Artists
Mythic Russia will be
illustrated by a wide array of new and established artists, with their own
distinctive styles and strengths. They include:
Simon Bray (maps and interior art)
As well as half the Unspoken
Word publishing company, Simon has been a mainstay of the artistic community
bringing the fantasy world of Glorantha to life for more years than he’d
probably like to remember. He came up with the Firebird logo, but is especially noted for his ability to use his
understanding of the artefacts and styles of different cultures to bring realism
to fantasy art. And for all those woodcuts...
Scott Cooper (interior art)
Scott Cooper studied at the Ontario College of Art and
worked in an advertising firm until he made the jump to becoming a freelance
comic artist. He has worked on several comics since, from newspaper strips to
animation, and his style is both bold and strong. Visit his website here.
Jeremy Mohler (cover and interior art)
Jeremy has been pursuing art near enough as long as he’s
been breathing. He has attended the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon & Graphic
Art and is just completing an interrupted illustration degree from the Kansas
City Art Institute. He has an equal facility with pencils, inks and colour
illustrations and works on both comics and roleplaying game related art; his
credits include work for Sovereign Stone and Silverthorne Games. Visit his
website here.
Alex Sheikman (interior art)
Alex Sheikman has contributed illustrations to books
published by White Wolf, AEG, Steve Jackson Games, and Holistic Design, as well
as working for a variety of comic book publishers including Marvel Comics, Slave
Labor Graphics, and Tim Vigil's Rebel Studios. Known for his distinctive
high-contrast graphic style, he is also meticulous about period detail when
dealing with historical subjects, which is handy for a project like Mythic
Russia. You can see more of his artwork here.
Darran Sims (maps and interior art)
Darran organises major entertainment events for a living.
When not hobnobbing with the famous (and obscure), he is also a fantasy artist
with a particular knack for detailed penmanship and complex maps and
perspectives, as you can see here. He also has a particular penchant for drawing weapons, which
suggests he’s not a person to cross…
Peter Town (interior art)
Peter is a native of northern California, who lives in
Sacramento with his wife and child-to-be. He has a degree in anthropology,
and his art is striking and distinctive, rich in detail and character. He says
that working on Mythic Russia has been a great opportunity to do some pictures
with historical authenticity, but the Firebird assumes he is being kind! His
work has also appeared in books published by Issaries and the Unspoken Word, and
you can see more of his art here.
